Overview

Whether you're travelling from within the U.S.A or from further afield, Miami Beach is easily accessed, primarily by air travel. The city is located just across the bay from the larger Miami City, which is served by two principal airports, several large interstates and a select number of Amtrak rail services. Once you've arrived in Miami, you can reach Miami Beach with ease using public transportation. Miami Beach is served by limited Bus network, where a number of bus lines connect Miami Beach's various districts. Taxis are also plentiful in supply, but visitors may find it easier to rent a car for the duration of their stay.

Getting to Miami Beach

Air

The Miami area is served by two large international airports, Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Both these airports feature links to the rest of the U.S, as well as international destinations in Europe and North America. Miami Beach is accessible from these gateways by means of frequent shuttle bus services.

• Miami International Airport: Situated just eight miles (13 km) northwest of Downtown Miami, Miami International Airport is the primary Airport serving Souther Florida. Nearly 34m passengers passed through its doors in 2009, with scheduled flights throughout the Americas and Europe. The airport's principal airlines are American Airlines and American Eagle, with Lufthansa, British Airways, Air Canada and Continental Airlines also serving the airport.  To access Miami Beach, take the J or 150 Bus from Miami International Airport to Miami Beach. • Fort Lauderdale Airport: While located slightly further away from Miami Beach than Miami International Airport, Fort Lauderdale Airport features numerous links to the Americas and international destinations. Located 21 miles (33.7 km) north of Miami, the airport welcomes approximately 23m passengers through its doors annually. Spirit Airlines and JetBlue Airways are the airport's principal airlines, with American Airlines, Continental Airlines and Air Canada also serving the airport. Rail

Amtrak operate long distance rail services to city's on the U.S.A's eastern seaboard. The Silver Service operates two trains daily to Miami from New York City, Washington, D.C. and other cities along the Eastern Seaboard. Check out Amtrak's Official Website for more information.

Road

There are three main highways coming into Miami, including the I-95 running along the Atlantic coast of the United States and terminates in Miami. The I-75 comes in from the midwestern United States and runs through Atlanta and Tampa before terminating in Miami. There is only one southbound route from Miami, which is the U.S. Highway 1, which runs through the Florida Keys all the way to Key West.

Getting Around Miami Beach

Visitors may find it easier to rent a car fro their trip, ensuring convenient transport around Miami Beach.
